About Marianne

Marianne Hansen (2003) is a Dutch concert pianist based in Rotterdam. Her love for the piano began at the age of one, when she sat at her grandfather's piano, fascinated by the sounds of the instrument.

From a young age, she has been active both as a soloist and chamber musician, gaining extensive stage experience in the Netherlands and abroad.

Marianne began her piano studies with private teachers and continued her education at institutions including ToBe Barendrecht and the Junior Preparatory Programme at Codarts with Stephane de May. She later attended the School for Music and Dance (Havo/Vwo voor Muziek en Dans), after which she was admitted to the Bachelor of Classical Piano programme at Codarts Rotterdam. There, she studies with Nino Gvetadze, further developing herself as a performing musician.

As a soloist, Marianne has performed in concert halls and festivals in the Netherlands and internationally, including appearances at De Doelen Rotterdam, the Wereldmuseum, and international festivals such as the Festival d’Anniviers in Switzerland, where she was awarded the Young Talent Prize. In 2023, she performed as a soloist with the Codarts Symphony Orchestra during Steef’s O Show at O. Festival Rotterdam. She also participated in the Piano Festival Rotterdam, where, in collaboration with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, she performed Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto and was awarded First Prize for Soloist with Orchestra.

Alongside her solo career, Marianne forms a successful piano duo with her duo partner Maureen. As a four-hand piano ensemble, they have performed in numerous concert halls and festivals throughout the Netherlands and Europe, with appearances ranging from concert series and theatre stages to international tours in England, Ireland, and Scotland.

Her playing is characterised by a powerful and energetic touch, combined with a warm, rich sound and a strong sense of musical expression and connection with both her audience and fellow musicians.
